With a father who loves Miles Davis and a mother who adores Smokey Robinson, Cecily Bumbray grew up surrounded by the music in her parents vast record collection, and was captivated by the works of Minnie Riperton, Gil Scott-Heron, Anita Baker, and Phyllis Hyman. After college, Cecily looked to these rich, soulful sounds from her childhood, and channeled them into her own music. Known for her sweet soprano, honest lyrics and pure vocals, Cecily brings her own vulnerability to each song, telling her story, and hopes that, at the end, the audience feels vulnerable enough to tell their own stories. In her hometown of Washington, DC Cecily has opened for Grammy Award winning jazz and soul artist Gregory Porter, R&B stars Johnny Gill, Kenny Lattimore, and Elle Varner, and alternative soul pioneer Bilal. She has played at the legendary Blues Alley, as well as The Kennedy Center, The Hamilton, The Howard Theater, and Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. Find out more about Cecily!
Come engage in an active roundtable between legendary DC musicians, millennials on the rise, and youth musicians with great potential, to discuss the intergenerationality of the music sphere. The goal of this roundtable is to equalize varying generations in a safe space to better understand musical and cultural preferences, while uncovering shared value. Our roundtable will be led by the Executive Director of The MusicianShip, Jeff Tribble Jr and will feature Rev. Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale, chairperson of DC Legendary Musicians, Inc.

The conversation will start with an explanation of the various copyrights and ownership rights held by different participants in the music creation process followed by an explanation on how to best secure and utilize rights & income from public performance royalties. Join us for one last musical hurrah with Kim Jordan! Kim, an extraordinarily gifted artist, keyboardist, producer, composer, arranger, vocal coach and promoter received her BA in music from Howard University. Upon graduation, Kim was immediately hired by and subsequently became musical director for jazz poet and legend, Gil Scott Heron, touring the world with him for over 30 years until his death in 2011. She received international acclaim for her live performances from such publications as The London Guardian, The San Francisco Examiner, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, Vibe and Billboard Magazines. Kim, a former music teacher for the Washington D.C. public school system, has also worked as a Musical Director for various National Organizations at the Washington Convention Center, Baltimore Convention Center, Camden Yards, and other national venues. Kim is a trailblazer for the musical genre "Gospel Jazz" and has received numerous awards including the prestigious ASCAP Music Award for composing and producing a #7 chart topping song on the Billboard's charts, "We Must Be In Love," recorded by Pure Soul. She also received the Urban Gospel Alliance and Urban Gospel Industry Awards for Female Artist and Producer of the Year in the gospel-Jazz category.
